Ashland County was home to the Studebaker family, originators of the Indiana made automobile.  This memorial to them is east of Ashland on what is now US 250.  Photos by Lincoln Highway Collection, Transportation History Collection, Special Collections Library, University of Michigan.

One lane paved in brick, the other still mud in Ashland County.
