Cairo and Gomer, Ohio
Cairo (pop: 500) and Gomer (pop: 350).
The Gomer area is famous for its Welsh settlers and also had one of the first "mall" concepts back in the Lincoln Highway days, with a post office, hardware, grocery store and filling station under one roof. You can still spot this building. In 1937, Ripley's Believe It or Not also listed Gomer as the only US town with all white houses on its main street! Wow!
In Cairo is the "Lincoln Log Cabin." The original part of this cabin was built in 1848.- Welsh Museum on the 2nd and 4th Sunday afternoons each month. 7365 Gomer Road, (419) 999-5820

It was built to cruise Antarctica, it got stuck in a ditch.
November 1, 1939, the Snow Cruiser built for Admiral Byrd's Antarctic explorations entering Upper Sandusky. Earlier, it had run off the road east of Gomer and crashed into a small ditch. The event brought in the national media attention and an estimated 
125,000 spectators.
It finally made it to port, was shipped to Antarctica, where the monster truck broke through the ice and sank to the bottom of the sea. Who'd have seen that one coming?
